So much I want to say. I will say I can totally relate and I have similar experiences with being raised as Jehovah witness in the earlier years of my life. It definitely separated my mom’s and her sister from my grandmother. Bless you and your family on your life journey and thank you for sharing your testimony.

What KH and area did you attend? I'm currently in the Org... I do understand your story. Some people in the org can be real but heads!! ( Speaking from experience).

My mom and I were treated like crap too when I was a young kid and not invited too many things either. We also were poor and my mom never drove so we relied on being picked up by people. There were some elders that would talk shit to my poor mom and I would just get so mad about it. She's still in the religion, but I stopped going over 20 years ago. I feel your pain when you cried, it's your mommy and we hurt when our mom's are treated poorly.

to answer the question as to why people are treated horribly, it’s because they are shining as a bright light for Yah/Jehovah. Your mother was a single mother raising 5 children, they all clearly saw that God was helping y’all and judging on the appearance of your surroundings; GOD did well …. Nice outfit, nails done, nice furniture etc… A lot of the elders stink just like many other religious figures in leadership that’s why were instructed to follow Jesus/Yeshua and not to follow elders “who will have a more severe punishment” …. In regard to your feelings about the organization that’s understandable especially when surrounded by those that lack understanding and also Holy Spirit or eyes of faith to truly see, but don’t allow that to turn you away from Christ, even if you don’t associate with them, never forget that Jesus died for you #MayYouHavePeace may God heal your brokenness and hopefully you’ll repent and be in the kingdom along side your strong mother figure. Jehovah Witnesses do not convert and they don’t force anyone to serve Jehovah God they have the choice whether to serve Jehovah or not .

I left almost twenty years ago. I to was raised by a single mother. Single parent families seem to be outcast in most congregations.

A lot of these comments prove why they need education.

They are so brainwashed, the second comment just described manipulation. "We disfellowship people to shame them into repentance ". How wrong is that. We take your friends and family away in an effort to make you rejoin and do what we say. How do you describe that as "love". I dont ever want that type of love, it seems twisted.

My friend told me that I'd be disfellowshiped if they caught me smoking but if I joined the military they wouldn't because they didn't want the government on their a$$es. So I stopped at the Quik Trip, bought pack of Camels and enlisted in the US Navy.

I'm not going anymore and what I have realised is that yes the love they have for you is really conditional. As long as you don't go to the KH they just don't bother contacting you to ask if you are doing ok, if you need practical help etc. Even though you have done absolutely nothing wrong ( just king of fade), not even marked etc. But they have plenty of time going doors to doors to see strangers but none for the one they used to call their " brother". The only contacts I have got were to get a lift to the assembly. When I simply answered saying I cannot... silence radio again even though I asked how they are doing. I expected this vile and hypocrite behaviour. But it speaks volume for me own shallow their love is. Being a JW seating down for hours several talks a week hearing and giving answers about love your fellow Christian like yourself but still not capable to show deep and real love like it is said in the bible is nuts 😂. Seeing how I'm treated without even telling them that I have some doubts about what they call the "truth", make me see that it had made no difference if I had told them in the end 😅. That put me off even more this attitude and yes most of them will not bother contacting you and the few that will, it will be out of Christian's duty not christian love. I don't put everyone in the same basket as I have some very close friends that are abroad and didn't give up on me. But this beeing said, I've got more unconditional love from my non jehovah's witnesses colleagues neighbours than them during these harsh times, these "last days". If they are acting like that now I can't imagine what it will be during "the great tribulation"....

Hi Evita, maybe your mother was shunned for divorcing her husband w/o a reason (meaning a reason that is accepted, and the only biblical reason is cheating) ? (Which would explain the bad treatment, even if she did the whole repentence routine and was accepted, maybe some were judgemental (even though that goes against the teachings). You were 15 when she died, so I suspect th divorce was years before and you would not necessarily have known if she was disfellowshiped if she did not explicitely tell you. - From what I know about JW's they are supposed to support one another (certainly a single mom of five even IF she "had violated her convenant of marriage" in the past. JW's are only allowed to get a divorce if the spouse cheats (a one night stand would suffice even if the cheater is remorseful, of course there would be some pressure on the cheated on spouse to forgive and to stay in the marriage). And some concessions will be made if he is severely (physically) abusive. I think a workaround is if the abusive spouse initiates the divorce and maybe moves on to have other relationships ...
